Gratiot Health and Safety
The American Red Cross has provided health and safety services to the American public for almost a century. Red Cross first aid, CPR and AED programs are available for any age group and can be tailored to the needs of specific groups and individuals. Whether you work with children, want training for employees, are a professional rescuer, or simply want to know how to help in an emergency, the American Red Cross has a program for you.
About Taking Classes
All courses are held at the Gratiot County Service Center, Mid Michigan Chapter, American Red Cross (unless otherwise noted). Registration is completed upon receipt of the class fee and is dependant upon available space in class.
You must register by check at least one week in advance of the class or register with a credit card by calling 989-463-3209. Please send a check or money order, payable to the American Red Cross, along with the registration form for each participant to The Gratiot Service Center.
- We have a no-refund policy.
- If 24-hour notice is given before the first class, fee may be applied to another class.
- There will be a $15 charge for all returned checks.
- Students with special needs should contact 989-436-3209.
- All classes are on Tuesday unless otherwise indicated.

Community CPR and First Aid (12 hours)
Take the Adult CPR, Infant and Child CPR and First Aid as a unit, receive a Community CPR and First Aid Certification at a $20 discount.
Adult CPR - $30 (4 hours)
Upon successful completion, students will be certified in Adult CPR.
Infant/Child CPR - $30 (4 hours)
Upon successful completion, students will be certified in Infant/Child CPR. Must have current Adult CPR card.
First Aid -$30 (4 hours)
Upon successful completion, students will be certified in First Aid. Must have current Adult CPR or Community CPR card.
Review - $25 (Adult, Community, or CPR/PR) (4 hours)
The purpose of this review is to provide individuals the opportunity to renew their certificate by proving their competency in specific skills. Enclose a copy of your current card with registration. Students must bring applicable course book. Review course in incorporated in the regularly scheduled classes. Please tell us when you call that you are interesting in review only.
CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED - $75 (8 hours)
This course is designed for individuals delivering health care and/or assuring public safety. The CPR/PR course teaches adult, child, infant one and two rescuer CPR. It also includes proper use of pocket masks and bag-value masks. Upon successful completion, students will be certified in CPR for the Professional Rescuer/AED. Please contact the Service Center for more information.

Automated External Defibrillator - $25 (2 hours)
Upon successful completion, students will be certified in AED. You must have a current Adult or Community CPR card. AED can also be added to an Adult CPR class for an additional $10. AED training will be conducted following CPR training for those requesting AED training. Please call the Service Center to schedule.
Babysitter’s Training - $50 (6 hours)
Students must be at least 11 years of age to participate. This training will help participants develop skills in five critical areas: Leadership, First Aid, Basic Care, Professionalism, and Safety & Safe Play. Please call the Service Center to schedule class.
Instructor Course - $200
For more information about becoming a Health and Safety Instructor, call the Service Center for details. All dates must be attended. Dates to be determined. (20 hours) Ask how you can qualify for the reduced rate of $75.00.
