Gratiot Blood Services
"Life-saving blood cannot be manufactured – it must be donated"
Having provided comfort and aid to those in need since 1881, the Red Cross quickly adopted Blood Services as a fundamental part of its humanitarian mission.
Started as a war relief effort to provide life-saving blood for soldiers during World War II, Red Cross Blood Services has grown to become an industry leader — collecting and distributing half the nation's blood supply.
Blood processing and technology to save lives however, are only possible because of one simple, selfless act: caring people take an hour out of their busy days to roll up their sleeves and give a pint of blood. With that donation, one person has the ability to save three lives.
